Below is an excerpt from the Archbishop of Sydney, Glenn Davies:
“In light of the Prime Minister’s announcement this morning, banning enclosed gatherings in excess of 100 people, I have decided that the Anglican Church in Sydney should suspend all public church gatherings until further notice.
We are encouraging all our churches to consider providing their services online or by other communication methods. We shall make every effort to care for our church communities and the wider public, especially those who are isolated and vulnerable.”
As a result, all MBM Sunday services on all three campuses will cease until further notice.
In addition, we will suspend all Growth groups, Friday night youth group, GTeams and all weekly ministries from March 19.
We are truly saddened that we need to take this action. However, our commitment to love others and protect the health of both the elderly and the sick requires us to be vigilant.
In response, it is critical we work to stay engaged in the word of God and with each other.
Each Sunday we will provide MBM Online where each household will have the opportunity to sing, pray, and be taught God’s word. Visit mbm.org.au/online for more information.
We also encourage growth groups to stay connected using various online platforms such as Zoom as well as maintaining contact with others by phone, text etc.
I will miss our time sharing fellowship together face to face on Sunday but I am looking forward to seeing what God will do in this season. These are truly strange days but our Lord is no less sovereign and it does us good to remember that now, as always, He is working for the good of those who love him so that we may be more like our Lord Jesus.
Please know the church office will remain open during the week for any pastoral care.
Your Brother in Christ,
(Last updated: March 19)
