Bible Talks from 2 Samuel

Counting Down To Judgement

Preached on June 20, 2015
Bible Text: 2 Samuel 24:1-4, 9-25

The book of Samuel ends with another reminder that King David has fallen again. He is a flawed Messiah making God the hero who provides the means for sacrifice whereby God`s wrath is averted. David is like Adam in bringing sin and punishment on his people and yet he is like Christ offering his life for theirs.

The Fall of King David

Preached on May 30, 2015
Bible Text: 2 Samuel 11:1-17

Oh how the mighty have fallen.
So far we have seen the rise of King David.
A man chosen by God, anointed as King, and after God's own heart.
We sing David's songs and we make his praises for God our own.
But in this talk we see the tragic fall into adultery and murder in one year.

The King Of Kindness

Bible Text: 2 Samuel 9

Humbly accept God’s loving-kindness to you, then be kind to others in the same way.

Fear The Lord…

Preached on May 2, 2015
Bible Text: 2 Samuel 6:1-15

There are two apparently conflicting truths in the bible.
On the one hand we are called to fear the Lord. Its the beginning of wisdom.
On the other  we serve the Lord without fear for fear has to do with punishment. Well which is it?

The King Is Dead, Long Live The King

Preached on April 25, 2015
Bible Text: 2 Samuel 1:1-16

Its hard when you know God has revealed His will in the Bible.
You trust the promises but they take so long to be experienced. In the mean time you are tempted to compromise and cut corners.
No one knew that better than King David as he waited to be anointed as King.
