The King tragically allows the Babylonians to see all the treasures of his kingdom. Isaiah predicts that the city will be sacked by the Babylonians. Hezekiah tragically does not appear to care for the generations that will be caught up in the exile.

Hezekiah goes to prayer and hears from Isaiah that God will protect his city. His prayer captures a jealousy for God`s honour.

Now in Isaiah 25 God is praised for his judgments and his salvation. On the Mountain of the Lord the nations banquet with God himself where the shroud of death has been removed.

They want to depose him and together take on Assyria. Isaiah is calling on Ahaz to not fear because both nations will be dealt with by God. Ahaz rejects the offer of a sign of assurance from God because his trust is alliance with Assyria. A sign is nevertheless given by God which involves the birth of a son to virgin who is Immanuel. God with us!

Bible Text: Isaiah 6:1-13 | Preacher: Ray Galea | Series: I Can See Clearly Now | Isaiah is commissioned in ch 6 in the context of a vision of the Holy one of Israel. He discovers that after issuing judgments on Judah in ch 5 he now is himself judged. 'Woe to you' becomes Woe is me, I am ruined. God then takes the prophets guilt away and this response of grace inspires a desire to take up the commission by God. But it will be a ministry where they will be for ever hearing but never understanding. Will this be the end of the story?
