Parents/guardians are encouraged to change nappies prior to signing-in or checking-in their child into a program.
No nappies are to be changed by Leaders.
Parents are to be called to change nappies and take their children to the toilet.
Tips For Under 5s
Parents/guardians are encouraged to take their child to the toilet prior to signing-in or checking-in their child into a program.
Parents are to be called to take their children to the toilet.
If parents are unable to be called in time, children are to be escorted to the toilets by two female adult leaders.
Two female leaders can take one child, but ratios in the room are to be considered when this occurs.
No more than 6 children aged 1 and 2 years can be taken at any one time.
No more than 10 children aged 3 and 4 years can be taken at any one time.
Female leaders may need to accompany children into the toilets and provide appropriate assistance (i.e. undoing belts/zippers/buttons, lifting onto toilet, wiping bottoms, etc.) Always ask child’s permission before assisting them (some will be capable of doing it all themselves).
When toileting young boys, place the boy on the toilet and gently encourage the child to lean forward (this will direct the urine into the toilet bowl)

Ensure no adults are present in the toilets and then send the children in. Then stand guard at the door. If someone goes to enter, smile and say, ‘There are children in there at present, they won’t be long.’
If children are misbehaving, remain at the entrance door, lean in and speak to the misbehaving children.
Junior Leaders (i.e. teenagers) and male Leaders are never to supervise children to the toilets.
Leaders are encouraged to use toilets before and after programs.
If a Leader needs to go during a program, use the disable toilet.
